Use of Creosoted Timber

Only professionals/contractors are able to purchase creosoted timber as long as they’re intended for business or agricultural use.  Creosoted timber should not be used inside buildings, anywhere where there might be frequent skin contact, or anywhere near any products destined for human and/or animal consumption.

Anyone handling creosoted timber should avoid any skin contact and should wear appropriate gloves. A dust mask and eye protection should also be worn when any creosoted timber is being sawn or machined. Creosoted timber is often used for equestrian (horses won’t eat it) and agricultural facilities where longevity and durability are important factors.
