News Update

Barrow Bags

Due to an increase in urban deliveries with tight access we have introduced barrow bags to our range.  These allow us to deliver large quantities of logs beyond the reach of the crane on our delivery truck.  By putting the bags on a sack barrow we can deliver up garden paths, into back gardens or into the back of your garage far more easily.  The logs in the bags are the same great seasoned or kiln dried logs that our customers have been relying on for years.

Wood Pellets

Due to increasingly tight margins on wood pellets and the producers selling direct we have finally decided to stop stocking wood pellets.  Our trade prices were almost the same as what the producers were retailing for which left us nothing to cover all of our costs.  We still use pellets in our own houses so feel free to give us a call and we can point you towards the best price suppliers that we have found.  Sorry about any inconvenience caused.

Our best selling product, keeps people coming back for more year after year.

Whether you simply enjoy a log fire on special occasions or use firewood to heat your home, our hardwood logs are the best you can get! A consistent, high quality, regular sized product delivered neatly to your door in the bag, ready to burn.

Hardwood logs, when properly seasoned, burn cleanly and slowly, giving off a great long lasting heat with no sparks to worry about. Ideal for stoves or open fires.

Our hardwood logs:

  • Timber sourced from local, well managed woodlands to ensure a truly sustainable and low carbon fuel.
  • Only the best species are used, mainly Sycamore, Birch and Ash, with some Beech and Oak.
  • Timber is well seasoned before being split and stored inside for several months to ensure our logs are ready to burn. Moisture content is checked prior to delivery to ensure it is below 25%.
  • We are careful to ensure our logs are split to a regular size, 25cm long and between about 50-100mm across.
  • All bags are individually marked to provide complete traceability of timber and drying times.

  • Our 90x90x90cm bags are extremely well filled, not only to give you the best possible value but because they do not stack properly in our shed if poorly filled!

For more information on our firewood see the "about our firewood" page here.

Hardwood or Softwood – the Facts!

Calorific value is generally measured in kilojoules per cubic metre. Calorific value varies according to moisture content, but the calorific value of softwood is approx 75% of that of hardwoods. What this means in practice is that hardwood will burn slower, and for longer, than softwoods. Softwoods will light quickly and produce a quick, bright heat but will not last as long as hardwoods.

The most important consideration when burning wood is the moisture content. This should be as low as possible and at Treeline we aim to supply firewood at below 25%MC.

Bags

We make no charge for our high quality bags at the time of delivery, but we do like to recover the empties so that they can be re-used.

Please either return, or advise us if you have bags to uplift.

Our best selling product, improved!  By finishing the drying process in our kiln we guarantee a moisture content below 20% providing you with instant, easy heat from your fire.

Whether you simply enjoy a log fire on special occasions or use firewood to heat your home, our hardwood logs have long been the best you can get! Now by kiln drying we have managed to improve them by ensuring a moisture content difficult to achieve naturally in our damp Scottish weather. A consistent, high quality, regular sized product delivered neatly to your door in the bag, ready to burn.

Hardwood logs, when properly seasoned, burn cleanly and slowly, giving off a great long lasting heat with no sparks to worry about. Ideal for stoves or open fires.

Our kiln is fuelled with waste wood from our own operations and so is as environmentally friendly as all of our firewood is.

Our hardwood logs:

  • Timber sourced from local, well managed woodlands to ensure a truly sustainable and low carbon fuel.
  • Only the best species are used, mainly Sycamore, Birch and Ash, with some Beech and Oak.
  • Timber is well seasoned before being split and stored inside for several months. The bags are then placed in our wood fired kiln for a week which reduces the moisture content to below 20%.  This means there is very little of the woods energy wasted burning off excess water in your fire.
  • We are careful to ensure our logs are split to a regular size, 25cm long and between about 50-100mm across.

All bags are individually marked to provide complete traceability of timber and drying times.

Our 90x90x90cm bags are extremely well filled, not only to give you the best possible value but because they do not stack properly in our shed if poorly filled!

A great but often underated product.

Softwood is often avoided as a firewood in this country. However, if the right species is selected and dried properly it burns just as cleanly as hardwood, producing a high heat but burning slightly quicker than hardwood. Give our softwood logs a try and you will wonder why some people are so fussy...

Softwood logs have the same calorific value (heat energy content) as hardwood per unit of weight but as they are lighter when dry you get less energy per cubic metre. We have priced our softwood so that you should get the same amount of energy for your money. If properly dried, softwood does not produce anymore soot than hardwood and so will not block your chimney. It is great wood for heating your house and ideal for stoves but also open fires.

Our Softwood logs:

  • Timber sourced from local, well managed woodlands to ensure a truly sustainable and low carbon fuel.
  • Only Pine and Larch are used, these burn cleanly with very few sparks.
  • Timber is well seasoned before being split and stored inside for several months to ensure our logs are ready to burn and will not soot up your chimney.

A cheaper but excellent alternative to our popular hardwood logs.  Get very easy and instant heat from your fire.

Softwood is often avoided as a firewood in this country. However, if the right species is selected and dried properly it burns just as cleanly as hardwood, producing a high heat but burning slightly quicker than hardwood. By kiln drying our softwood, in our own wood fired kiln, we can guarantee a low moisture content which severely reduces any tar build up in your chimney.

Softwood logs have the same calorific value (heat energy content) as hardwood per unit of weight but as they are lighter when dry you get less energy per cubic metre. We have priced our softwood so that you should get the same amount of energy for your money. • Timber sourced from local, well managed woodlands to ensure a truly sustainable and low carbon fuel.
  • Only Pine and Larch are used, these burn cleanly with very few sparks.
  • Timber is well seasoned before being split and stored inside for several months and finally finished off for a week in our own kiln to ensure our logs are ready to burn and will not soot up your chimney. Moisture content of our kiln dried firewood is guaranteed to be below 20%.
  • We are careful to ensure our logs are split to a regular size, 25cm long and between about 50-100mm across.

All bags are individually marked to provide complete traceability of timber and drying times.

Compressed sawdust briquettes - a clean and convenient woodfuel with a very low moisture content guaranteed!

Our compressed hardwood sawdust briquettes provide an ideal alternative to logs. For those of you concerned about moisture content, briquettes come in a sealed container, ensuring that the moisture content is kept down to 6-8%.

Our briquettes are manufactured locally and entirely from waste materials, so you know that you are buying an environmentally friendly product. Briquettes are very much more easily handled and stored than large bags of logs, being that much less bulky. They are ideal for anyone for whom storage space is at a premium, or for whom access is difficult.

Briquettes – the facts.

  • Supplied in bags of 12, with a weight/bag of 10kg
  • Price £4.44 per bag
  • Calorific value – approx. 5kwh per kg (dry hardwood logs approx. 4kwh/kg) the difference being due to the lower moisture content.
  • For a similar price to a bag of hardwood logs, we would supply you with 18 bags of briquettes or 216 briquettes – 180 kg.
  • In terms of value for money, although lighter than a bag of logs, the increased calorific value of the briquettes tends to compensate for this weight discrepancy.

Perhaps not as good looking as a log! But towards the end of the winter, as good dry logs become increasingly scarce, they are a viable alternative.
